Agency Background
Robert
E. Inman, the agency’s founder, had many years experience in
technical sales in the heating and air conditioning field, commercial
aviation, and the industrial valve industry. In 1976, he joined A. Y.
McDonald Co., a manufacturer of waterworks and plumbing brass products,
as Territory Manager for Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and Eastern
Tennessee. Bob’s hard work and commitment to both the
manufacturer and the customer helped to establish McDonald in the
Southeast and greatly increased their sales. In 1980 he was given an
opportunity to represent McDonald in this area as an independent
manufacturers’ representative. He formed R. E. Inman &
Associates, Inc. and began to attract other manufacturers seeking
quality representation. Many of these manufacturers are still
represented by the agency today.
In 1988 Bob’s youngest son,
Michael, left the banking industry to join the agency. Mike quickly
acclimated himself to the new industry and for several years father and
son covered all of the territory, providing both of them an opportunity
to establish lasting relationships with distributors, engineers, and
municipal personnel. As the business continued to grow, additional
employees were added and facilities were expanded. Today, as Inman
& Associates, Inc., they employ sales agents in each territory and
have a 6,000 square foot warehouse in Griffin, Georgia.
What We Do
As an independent manufacturers’
representative agency we are able to assemble a “package”
of quality products related to the water and wastewater industry. We
represent only products from manufacturers that share our philosophy
regarding quality and service. We promote these products to
municipalities and engineers to get our manufacturers’ products
approved and specified, assisting with both application and operation.
We promote and sell these products through specialty waterworks
distributors, providing their personnel with training, in-field
assistance, seminars, and open houses.
